Group AGM and Awards 2019

This years AGM saw our 25 of our young people awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold Chief Scout Awards by our District Commissioner, Kiron Griffin.


We also awarded 5 inspirational young people with the GSL Commendation Award.


The GSL Commendation Award is for those who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the Scout Law and or Promise. The figure of 8 knot, as it is a knot to be trusted, but was was chosen for the GSL Commendation Award for the following characteristics:

  • Strength - which can be interpreted as resilience, courage and bravery.

  • Security - which can be interpreted as a sense of belonging, social cohesion and sense of community.

  • Non-slip - which can be interpreted as steadfast and unwavering.

Finally we welcomed in to post our new Chairman, Fr Michael Fish, the newly appointed vicar of St. Stephens Church. Fr Michael brings a a wealth of Scouting knowledge with him alongside an opportunity to strengthen our founding links within the community and the church. He will be leading a newly appointed executive committee.
